Blunt Brothers and Sisters...
Normally, these emails, like the parties they advertise, are a joint effort - but this one is different. It's just from me - Ian. Why? Well, some of you already know that I will be leaving Barcelona at the end of April to return to London and sell my soul to the corporate devils that inhabit that rainy, grey city. For those who didn't already know this, well.... now you do.
Naturally, we will be having a party to mark (celebrate? commiserate? facilitate?) my departure... And therefore I sincerely hope that as many of you as can manage will join me at the *estate party at Mephisto on Friday, April 13th, to say a proper Blunt farewell before I leave.
It's hard to believe that this will be last *estate I'll be involved with. The *estate parties and the Blunts will live on (as always), and rest assured I'll be at all the future parties in spirit (and, Easyjet willing, in the flesh occasionally too). To tell the truth, it simply breaks my heart to think of leaving the people and the places and the city that I love. These five years have been the best of my (surprisingly long) life. The only way I'll cope is by remembering all the great times we've shared in the past and by reassuring myself that somewhere in the city, whatever ungodly hour it may be, in some darkened room there's probably a great little after-party in full, chaotic swing. And if you happen to be at that after party (and I sincerely hope that you are) maybe you could remember me with a quick toast and a big smile - before getting back to the serious business of shaking your booty till the sun comes up again. (Or goes down again, depending on how hardcore you are).
Since it's such a unique occasion, we're going right back to where it all started, way back to the heady days of 1989 with the legendary DiY Sound System for a double dose of musical mastery. By special request we've persuaded DJ Jack (DiY) to come out of retirement and grace the decks along with his old partner in do-it-yerself crime, DJ Digs (DiY/ Lyme.fm). The music will be sweet, the music will be deep, but most of all the music will be that special, tasty brand of loveliness known only as "DiY house". There is simply none finer, I assure you, and I really hope you can all come and enjoy it with us.
I hope to see you all there. But remember - it's not "goodbye" - more like "hasta la pista.... baby".

Hermanos y hermanas Blunt...
Normalmente, estos e-mails, tal como las fiestas *estate, son un esfuerzo de dos-pero este es diferente. Os lo envío solo yo-Ian. Por que? Pues. algunos de vosotros ya sabéis que me voy de Barcelona al final de abril para volver a Londres, aquella ciudad maravillosamente gris y lluviosa. (He vendido mi alma a los demonios de negocios) Para los que no sabíais, consideraros informados.
Naturalmente, montaremos una fiesta como Dios manda para marcar (celebrar? facilitar? lamentar?) mi salida.....por lo tanto espero con total sinceridad que podamos vernos en la fiesta *estate el viernes 13 de abril en la sala Mephisto para despedirnos con estilo y elegancia (y quizás un poco de desenfreno) antes de que me vaya...
Me cuesta creer que esta sera la ultima *estate en que me involucro yo. Las fiestas *estate y los Blunts seguirán (como siempre) y, no os preocupeis, estaré con vosotros en las fiestas en espíritu por lo menos (y, dependiendo de Easyjet, en persona de vez en cuando). Para ser sincero, me rompe el corazón cuando pienso en dejar a la gente, los lugares, y la ciudad que me encantan tanto. Estos 5 años han sido los mejores de mi (sorprendentemente larga) vida.
La única manera que se me ocurre para recordar todas estas fiestas y momentos tan fantásticos que hemos compartido juntos, es asegurándome que en algún rincón oscuro de la ciudad, a una hora cualquiera, seguramente habrá un after-party de puta madre.....Y si da la casualidad de que estáis pasándolo "a saco paco" en esta fiesta (esperemos que si), a lo mejor podríais recordarme con un brindis y una sonrisa-justo antes de volver a festejar hasta que salga el sol. (o hasta que baje de nuevo; eso depende de vosotros)
Con motivo de ser una ocasión tan única, vamos a volver a donde empezó todo....al anno 1989 con el sonido legendario de DiY Sound System para un doble dosis de maestría musical. A petición especial hemos conseguido persuadir a DJ Jack (DiY) a salir de jubilacion para estar con nosotros, y estará pinchando con su colega y antiguo socio, DJ Digs (DiY/Lyme.fm). La música sera "deep" y melódica, pero mas importante, sera aquella música house sabrosa y especial llamada "DiY House." Simplemente, no hay música mas refinada, os aseguro, y espero que podáis venir y disfrutarla con nosotros.
Espero veros allí. De verdad. Pero recordaros – no es un "adiós" – es, mas bien, una "hasta la pista......nen."
